Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 4. It is hard to believe we are almost halfway into this term!!
During Week 3 the CE inclusion team visited St Mary’s. Their job is to work closely with our staff to assist in different strategies to support our students to achieve in the classroom. Their time and valuable insights were of benefit to all staff and Learning Support Assistants. We look forward to implementing the strategies and ideas they provided us with and continuing to positively support all the children at St Mary’s.
Last week, we finished our CE mandated Progressive Achievement Test (PAT) assessments. These tests covered both reading and numeracy and were completed over Week 2 and Week 3. It was fabulous to see the focus, effort and diligence students put into these tests. I’d like to share with you the Maths results comparing the beginning of 2024 to the beginning of 2025. Please keep in mind these results are only from Year 2 to 6. Kinder and Year 1 complete a different test. As you can see, we have no children represented in the bottom three bands in 2025 compared to quite a few in 2024. We are also represented in the 135-144 band in 2025 whereas we were not represented in that band in 2024. This is a fantastic performance and a result of the hard work of our staff and students.
Next Tuesday we will hold our annual Athletics Carnival. Many thanks to Wendy Connellan for her time organising and to Casey Judd for her efforts ordering, rostering and preparing the canteen for the day.
Remember my door is always open.

This week at St Mary’s we will not have a focus value, we will instead look at the value of peace. A value Pope Leo has mentioned quite a few times in his first few weeks leading the Catholic Church and one in which he holds close to his heart. We can all pray and hope for peace in our lives.
A Prayer for Peace
Class masses will reconvene upon Fr Hilary’s return from annual leave. More information will be forthcoming.

A reminder that if you would like your child to receive their First Holy Communion, the enrolment information session will be held TOMORROW, Wednesday the 21st of May at 5pm at St Mary’s church.
