Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 3. Another busy week of fun and learning at St Mary’s with so many events and lots to celebrate.
Congratulations to Abbie Blampied of Year 6 who was successful in winning a section in the ‘2025 ANZAC School Initiatives’ competition. The competition was held statewide and was judged by a panel made up from representatives from Koori Kids, community elders and council delegates. The idea of the competition was to raise awareness and understanding of the true meaning of ANZAC Day.
On Friday, the 8th we will celebrate the feast day of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop. We will do this in each class as a liturgy. Next Friday is the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We will come together as a whole school for the Mass at 12pm on Wednesday.
Good luck to Charlotte Pursehouse in Year 4 who will represent St Mary’s in the Year 4 section of the Archdiocesan public speaking finals in Gundagai.
Last week St Mary’s hosted an Emotional Regulation & Anxiety forum. The event was led by local expert in this area Esther Petrie and our very own school counsellor Natalie Cowled. They discussed strategies for you and your children at morning drop offs, transitions, changes in routines and spoke about overall emotional regulation and support. We thank them for sharing their expertise in this important area with the staff and parents. If you believe your child may benefit from counselling or support in this area and would like to make a referral with Natalie, you can do so by following the link below:

This week at St Mary’s our focus value will be Joyfulness. Joyfulness is not just feeling happy because something good happens. It means deciding to see the good in situations, finding enjoyment in life’s small moments, and sharing that joy with others. It’s normal to feel sad sometimes but by being joyful, we see the fruits of the Holy Spirit in all the situations of our life.
A Prayer for Joy

Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese Trials
If your Year 5/6 child has the ability to compete at a representative level in the following sports - Basketball, Cricket, Netball, Football (Soccer), Softball, Touch Football and Rugby Union - you are able to nominate them for the Archdiocesan trials.
Please note that the Archdicocesan representative sport trials are highly competitve and there is an expectation that children nominating for these trials have extensive experience in the sport and currently compete at a high level.
If you would like to nominate your child to trial for a sport please go to https://csnsw.sport
Year 5/6 Touch Gala Day
Our Year 5 and 6 students will attend the NSW Touch Football Primary School Gala Day in Parkes tomorrow.
3 mixed teams have been entered. The games will run as a gala day format and will consist of 20 minute games with 6 players on the field.
The bus will be departing at 7:15. Students will be required to be at school no later than 7:10. Return time will be around 5pm. Teachers will advise via Seesaw or text a more accurate time.
Students have been provided with a playing singlet. Please pack a spare shirt so the singlets can be handed in at the conclusion of the day. Students must also bring a hat, water bottle and a packed lunchbox. There has been no indication as yet for a canteen, if more information regarding this is received it will be passed on.
Students may wear football boots for the games if they wish.
