A Message from our Principal
Dear Parents,
St Mary’s has continued to live out our new Vision and Mission statements.
Vision
St Mary’s War Memorial School is a vibrant and inclusive Catholic School community, inspiring minds, enriching hearts and celebrating achievements.
Mission
In partnership with families, we are committed to educating children who are:
- Compassionate
Loving one another as Jesus showed us.
- Respectful
Christian stewards with an understanding and appreciation of earth, themselves, culture and social diversity.
- Courageous
Authentic and spirited in their faith, learning and actions.
- Resilient
Adaptable, engaged and confident in their learning and interactions with each other.
- Committed
Creative problem solvers who collaborate with others to become responsible learners.
During the last 2 weeks of our Making Jesus Real (MJR) sessions we have focused on 'Respectful' and 'Courageous'.
During each morning assembly, members of the school community are invited to share a 'St Mary’s shout out' of examples of students living out our mission statement. Examples of compassion, respect, courage, resilience and commitment. The students have shown a keen eye identifying examples of our mission statement and sharing them with the rest of the school.
Year 5/6 Hope
As you are aware it has been a difficult task replacing Mrs Cuthbertson while she took time off to bring her beautiful baby boy Jude into the world. For Term 2 we had a host of internal teachers take on extra days and responsibilities to ensure learning was not interrupted in 5/6 Hope. All involved have done a marvellous job and our students have not missed a beat.
Moving forward, it is with great excitement that I announce that Miss Bree Madden will take over the role of classroom teacher for 5/6 Hope for the rest of the year. Miss Madden is currently on placement finishing her teaching degree requirements. She has already spent 2 days at St Mary’s. One as a casual day and the other as an orientation day becoming familiar with our policies and procedures. Miss Madden also sneakily spent an hour with the class in a support role to Mrs Speedy and familiarising herself with the students and classroom routines.
On behalf of the entire school community I would like to welcome Bree into our wonderful little school.
Parent School Survey
I would like to remind you all to participate in the school survey that was launched in last week’s newsletter. Your contribution in this survey is extremely valuable to the school and the data collect will help shape future directions the school will take. A link to the survey can be found further on in this week’s publication.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent Teacher interviews will be held in the last week of term. Your participation in these interviews is extremely important for your child's learning and I encourage you to make a booking on the morning of Monday the 21st of June when you receive the link via text.
