Aboriginal Land Council Visit Year 3/4
By Ava McLintock and Charlie Murdoch
On Monday Year 3 and 4 went to visit the Aboriginal Land Council to learn about Aboriginal Culture for NAIDOC Week.
While we were there we learnt about Aboriginal paintings, totems, the quandong tree and how they made clothing to keep warm. We really enjoyed our visit, especially the paintings and trying the quandongs.
Some children were given a chance to play the didgeridoo and all of us got a chance to hold Aboriginal tools and artefacts. At the end of our visit, Uncle Linton showed us how to make ochre paint and painted a dot on our foreheads. The girls were given a yellow dot and the boys were given a red dot.
When we got back to school we shared our presentations about famous Indigenous people. We learnt a lot on our visit and are very grateful to Uncle Bernie and Uncle Linton.
